I’ve always considered myself an ‘alternative’ kind of person, so the thought of a mainstream image was very daunting for me, but going into my 50’s I felt I had to change the mid-twenties image I’ve clung to.

Having just returned to work after the birth of my second baby in 2 years I was in need of some help to boost my confidence. My friends and I had been discussing colour consultation but generally I am a very reserved and private person and thought I would be too self-conscious to actually do this kind of thing. Within weeks I saw an advert in our local newsletter, The Advertiser, and was struck by the friendly and informal presentation of the advert for the image consultant, Janice Pitman.
When I called her the friendliness and approachability were reinforced which actually gave me the confidence to book a session for colour analysis. Janice came to my house for an initial consultation and a “meet and greet” session. Again the friendliness of Janice and her personality made me feel at ease and we chatted like we'd known each other for years. Janice explained what would be involved in the colour analysis session and it sounded really interesting. I then made an appointment to get my colour analysis done. For this I went to Janice's house.
On entering I was made to feel at home immediately with offers of tea and homemade cake. The house was beautiful and the room set aside for the consultations was very well laid out and comfortable. Janice did a facial for me and explained the products she would use, allowing me to read a lot of background around the products. In addition she explained the process she was going to go through for the colour analysis. Initially I was reserved and couldn't see the difference between a “good” colour and “bad” colour and thought, cynically, that there wasn't anything in this. Then after several minutes I began to see the differences in the shape of my face and more dramatically the colour and shine in my eyes as different colours were used. I could not believe the transformation. All the time Janice was making me feel more and more comfortable and at ease.
My confidence was definitely boosted and I left Janice's house in a fantastic mood and full of renewed confidence. I went straight to a dress boutique and bought a new dress for a wedding I was going to. I was categorised as an “Autumn” where I am suited to warm muted tones. In fact I have always been attracted to these colours but lacked confidence to actually buy or wear them, hiding instead behind “safe” black and navy.
Now not only has my wardrobe been revamped but I have a new sense of confidence in what I wear and who I am – thanks so much Janice. Subsequently I had a make-up application for a wedding, where Janice came to my house and pampered me some more. I had my gorgeous purple dress and Janice made me feel, and look, like a queen with some glamorous make-up. So many people commented on how well I looked at the wedding.
I am planning to have a make-up party in the coming months in order to introduce some friends to Janice.

I had been considering visiting a colour analyst for about 6 months when I happened upon Janice's advertisement in our local, free paper “The Gryffe Advertiser.” I was impressed by the amount of detail in the advert and the fact that it seemed inviting. I looked up the various consultations offered and decided to call Janice to book a colour session.
I have to confess to being a little nervous at the prospect of going to someone's house who was unknown in any capacity to me…… however, as soon as I met Janice I felt at home in her environment. It was non threatening, friendly and totally professional.
On entering I was offered tea, coffee wine etc. I filled out a form containing my details then Janice offered me a facial – which I accepted. It was fantastic (so much so that I am now the proud owner of a Fleur de Jouvence box.) Janice then explained how the colour consultation would work. I found it informative and good fun.
When I left I could not believe that I had been there for two and a half hours. It has made a huge difference to me; I now know what colours to wear and more importantly what to avoid. It has saved me money but given added excitement on a shopping trip as I have my booklet of winter colours. Janice then did my make up which has totally changed the colours I wear on my face and also my application. I learned some secrets of the trade.
I have now booked for a style consultation and am hosting a party night in the next few weeks so that all my friends can get the benefit of Janice's wisdom and be inspired by her as I am.
